Alaska Summer 2008

It was a great summer on the Sapphire Princess. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting so many of you from so many different places; I trust that your Alaska experience was all you hoped. I had some unbelievable experiences of my own: my son and I paddled to the face of Davidson Glacier which was fabulous; my husband and I flew to the top of the Juneau Ice Field on a "shirt-sleeve" day and saw a remarkable glacial river ON the glacier; we also saw a huge moose wading in the Chilkat River near Haines; I took my first trip to Neets Bay to see the bears feeding; there are no words to describe what a thrill that was. The best part of all, though, was my last two days "off" the ship when my friend Kim and I drove to Denali and Fairbanks. The mountain was beyond beautiful beyond words; we were both speechless! Kim also talked me in to going on the ZIP line in Juneau. What an experience! It was frightening, but once I started, there was no going back. I might even do it again one day. Please send me an email with your 2008 Alaska experiences and/or pictues. Each summer hundreds of humpbacks migrate to Alaska to feed, and feed they do for 23 hours a day. This phenomenon is known as bubble-net feeding, and it is rare to get to see it. In this presentation, Kathy tells about the various kinds of whales, their birthing and feeding habits, and shows some amazing humpback footage.
Those Amazing Whale!
All of Kathy's presentations are given with full PowerPoint, accompanied with narration and music.  Each presentation is unique and will be a source of enlightenment for your cruise experience.  Kathy will assist you in creating cherished memories of your Alaska experience.
